We have not done any of these for quite while.... Last time, Karen and I made an arrangement and got a lot of donations, etc....

Karen ( Karen and Lucy ) has not been around for quite sometimes....

Eastern PA and Western PA could do two separate romps, since PA is soooo big!! Ohio folks will come to the Western PA one.

Sounds like a good idea!

Ugh!  I can't make that date.  I really hope to make one of these soon.
Who wants to be in chage of the Western PA romp? I can help out.
My Charlie is pretty reactive to the dogs she does not know, so I cant do Romp, but would love to do get together hikes in Laurel HIghland area ( This way, everyone is on leash...)

I couldn't do the 4th in Western PA, but can the 11th (the following saturday). Lucky Paw's looked amazing with the pool and everything (indoor waterfall?!)

If we get 10 of us, we can even get the indoor rental for $10 per person and free "admission"

I've seen it brought up here before, though I don't know if anyone's actually been there.

As per their website:

Outdoor Park

  • Double-gated entry, off-leash property
  • 3,000 square foot, zero-entry swimming pool and water park designed and maintained specifically for dogs (Pool is seasonal)
  • Slip-resistant surface at the entrance of the pool and special anti-microbial K9 Grass surrounds the entire area
  • The entire park is enclosed by a 6 ft. high fence
  • Water fountains for the dogs and humans
  • Large pavilion with picnic tables and park benches
  • Mountains, tunnels, and play equipment

Indoor

  • Connected to the outdoor park through the backyard play area
  • 3,500 sq ft indoor facility with EvoFlex seamless poured rubber flooring (1/2 inch thick, non-skid, sterile floor that is gentle on dogs' joints and paws)
  • Waterfall created just for dogs
  • Sound system and big screen TV
Looks great!! Looks like a fun place!! I wont be able to go because Charlie is reactive to the dogs she does not know, but I can give you some suggestions if you would like.( I set the last romp together with Karen and Lucy ) You can just pick a date , put the info on the "event" section. ( see up top - second from right on the tab ) If you want, see people listed on the PA group and Ohio group, and send them a message to invite them. You should get at least 10 people to come!! We had solicited some donations from local pet store, walmart, etc... and made up raffle basket, and sold the tickets. Also made up bandanna and sold them. All of the proceed went to IDOG for rehome/adoptable doodles. ( Or DRC )
Thanks for your help. I didn't know about the event suggestion (not sure how I missed it, its right in front of me!).

I contacted Lucky Paws to see about reserving the room for the 11th. They said that the facility is rented out for the day by the Western PA Humane Society. They noted a few alternative suggestions for dates, but none work that well for me. Instead of putting off the romp until later, what do you think about joining in on the WPAHS "Make a Splash"?

Here is a link to the advertisement: http://www.wpahumane.com/SplashPoster.pdf

The price would stay the same ($10) and the money would go to a worthy non-profit.  The "make a splash" event only runs between 10-1pm, though the park is actually open form 9 am to 7 pm. So if people are hesitant (too many people/dogs) we could just do later or earlier. I'm interested in feedback either way!

(I have some interest in the Ohio group, too, so this is being crossposted there as well.)

We have some interest in the Ohio Group, and I'd love feedback on the date/time issue. I posted a new topic in the main forum, to centralize the conversation between states. Please go to this link to see the thread and respond there if you plan on attending. http://www.doodlekisses.com/forum/topics/proposed-doodle-romp-june

Thank you!!!

You can send the invite individually to the PA, Ohio and WV people on their pages, too.
I made an event for us to hopefully get a few more to join us next weekend. ;-] I can invite "friends" but I don't seem to find a way to invite groups? Any suggestions?
