Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi everyone,
I've got Doodle Romps scheduled at Fido's Indoor Dog Park for the upcoming months (until March 2013). All will be on Sundays and run from 1-3pm. PLEASE NOTE: The 1st doodle romp is next Sunday, Oct. 21st. Here's the schedule:
Oct. 21st, 2012
Nov. 18th, 2012
Jan. 6th, 2013
Feb. 3rd, 2013
March 3rd, 2013
Please mark your calendars!
As long as we have at least 6 doodles attending, admission will be $6 per doodle, otherwise it will be $12. Fido's is located at 4949 SE 25th Ave (near SE 26th and Raymond in Portland). If you haven't already done so, please register with them. You can find Fido's Registration Form, here: http://www.fidosindoordogpark.com/forms/
Fido's requires a current copy of your dog's vaccination records the day of the romp, or fax it to 503 477 6318. The minimum age they allow is 4 months (up-to-date with all puppy vaccinations).

I was really looking forward to this upcoming doodle romp. Lucy, however, had a fitful night of really bad coughing spells, and went for an early morning vet visit. Turns out she has kennel cough, and shouldn't be around other dogs for several weeks (she's on a course of antibiotics). She has been around no other dogs in many weeks, so all we can figure is we carried the virus home on us last weekend after visiting Oscar. (Yes, we're getting another doodle puppy!) I've got to inform the breeder of the likelihood of the pups carrying the virus. I'm not sure what can be done for them at that age, but a 'heads up' might be in order just to keep an eye out for symptoms. I'm not sure, either, if Lucy will get the virus again once Oscar arrives (dogs can carry the virus and not have symptoms). I have a few things to ask the vet, yet, obviously.
After doing some research, I've found that kennel cough isn't a serious condition on its own, although it sounds terrible when the dog goes through the coughing spells. It often resolves itself after 2-3 weeks (much like a human cold). It only becomes serious if conditions deteriorate and develop into pneumonia or other secondary respiratory infections (again, much like the human cold). I'm not sure why our vet was so aggressive with his treatment plan. Lucy was current on her Bordetella vaccine (kennel cough), BTW. I've read that the vaccine is no guarantee against contracting the virus, but can make the symptoms less severe.
I'm really sorry we won't make the romp. Tim or I will definitely be there for the next one (we'll have a young Oscar by then, and one of us will probably stay home with him).
Poor Lucy, Mulligan has had it a couple of times ( he also has Bordetella ) but within a day of antibiotics he was feeling so much better.
So excited to meet Oscar, what breeder are you getting him from? I am sure Lucy will be so excited for a new play buddy.
Hi Sue!
We're going through Labradoodledoo in Hillsboro, Lucy's breeder. Lucy turned out so wonderful and good-tempered, and we've been anxious looking at other breeders' puppies, not knowing what kind of temperaments the puppies would have. Labradoodledoo has really ramped down their breeding operation in recent years, that their latest litter (multi-gen standard labradoodles) really was quite irresistible. Lucy will be beside herself with glee with having a little brother. She absolutely LOVES puppies, and especially labradoodles. She'll see him as the gift that keeps on giving :)
Here's a couple pics of Oscar, at 2 and 3 weeks old:
Oops, I misspoke. The pictures of Oscar are at 3 weeks and 4 weeks. Sorry 'bout that.
OMG he is so stinking cute I can't stand it. When do you pick him up? cannot wait to meet him :)
BTW, Sue, there's still puppies available:
So cute!!! congratulations on #2 doodle.....very very tempting!
