Anyone have a pup afraid of the Halloween/Fall decorations? We put ours up this week-end, and Giada growls at every decoration each time she passes it!! My older dog never did this........now we're wondering how she'll be on the actual night. Since it's on a Friday night, we're going ALL out this year!!!

I don't know yet, but will let you know. Lily is still so new around here that every change seems normal to her I guess. However, she is definitely getting more feisty in her reaction to new things, letting us all know how she feels about everything from the dust buster to the leash.
How old is Giada?
Oh, yes Giada is the same. She is still terrified of the vacuum! Almost anything new scares her.......we call her kitty (Short for scaredy cat--lovingly of course).

Tamara, This weekend Lily was afraid of a beer can that had been thrown in our yard, a left over baloon that was in the dining room and a pirate yard sign (for the local football team)! I'm thinking she might not be a decorating loving holiday partier either! She's only 10 weeks and I think I remember reading that they are all "kitties" at about this time, but it makes sense that some of the fears would stick with them even as they get older.
Yup, sounds right. Giada is now fine with the decorations....took almost a week, but at least she is better :) I have no idea what she will do on Halloween. Will keep everyone posted:)
I don't know what will happen with Giada - but Sadie started displaying some of this type behavior when she was younger and it has just gotten worse. It started with small things like balloon decorations etc. and now its alot more things like the trash can we pass on the street, bicycles, childern in play toys that move, new people, etc.
My trainers advice was to slowly start introducing all types of new things into her enviroment and let her slowly get used to it. I've since started trying to let Sadie experience these things in small doses. An example on bikes - I get out my bicycle and set it in the drive way for her to pass. Then let her see me with it so she knows I'm ok with it. Then as she gets used to it and starts approaching it on her own - I start riding it around her. Now she's getting used to seeing them around the neighborhood and is ok with one bike - but not several. So we'll start trying to pass several so she can get used to that.
Hopefully it's just a puppy phase for Giada and nothing you'll have to worry about!
I think they are always curious...my Mocha jumped at my umbrella last week while taking her out!! Like anything I'm sure they will get used to it. Congrats on getting done already.... I haven't decorated at all yet!! Halloween is so fun!!
