Yesterday Toby turned into a whirling dervish. He did things he NEVER does. Run over barricades up the stairs multiple times, bit way more than usual, was in and out of the house at least fourty times, ran like a banshee in the yard, etc. Just pushed ALL my buttons....He's almost 11 weeks old. Are we at some sort of milestone? Will this pass? I was so tired of saying "NO" by the end of the day I could have cried. I did not picture this when I picked up my cute little pup.
LOL, Sandy, we've had days like that with Wrigley. Thankfully those days did not signal a personality change. Usually, she was just having a bad day (or fun day in her mind!) I think that her wild days usually come after she's been a bit cooped up due to rain or to our busy schedules. Hopefully Toby will do better today!
I hope so too. I don't want to resent my pup! I just put him in his crate so I could go out for some "sanity" time. And go to the chiropractor, who I'm sure will feel the stress in my spine!
I also forgot to add, Sandy, that when Wrigley starts to get a bit crazy wild, we usually get more strict with our training. It seems like an extra session of sit, down and stay just seems to help her get better control of herself. She really does want to please so badly, most of the time.
Hang in there girl!! Patti Cake is 10 1/2 weeks now and she is just starting to get more independent. Please tell me you are crate training Toby. That will help sooooo much. I exercise Patti in the morning and let her run her energy out and when she is in the house if I cant watch her, she goes in the crate so I can get things done. She whined a bit at first, but learned quickly that she wasn't going anywhere and settled down after a little while. Helps with Potty training too. Check out some the the great training books folks has suggested on this group site. You are not alone in your frustrations, but pups will be pups and look to you to be his guide. Good luck!!
Pups do get better willson was like that too, and today he is into everything but it is raining so i can't get him out to play. he likes to go upstairs now with us and get into things he is 4 1/2 months. But I have a toy upstairs for him to play with. There are so many milestones that you will see, Willson loves to snuggle but now he is getting into some paper so I have to go Good Luck

To know about the developmental stages, I suggest buying Puppies for Dummies. This book explains the different developmental stages the pups go through and suggestions on what the puppy should learn at that stage. I find it very helpful. Goodluck
