Should our 3-month-old goldendoodle have complete access to his toy bin? For a little while we had it down on the floor and he would bury his head in it and pick out different toys...which is fine, but then he started dragging the fabric bin (which should not be a "toy") around the room. Right now, we have it up on a high counter, and we hand out toys, when we feel he is ready for a new one. What do you think? Should we give him free access again and see how it goes?

We give our puppies complete access to their toy bins - they like to empty them and sleep in the bins. If you could see our house you would think we had half-a-dozen children around, but only 2 happy pups. I couldn't hand out toys to my pups because I don't know what they feel like playing with at the time. I think you should give him free access - it will keep his mind off the things he shouldn't chew.
Me too! I swear Daphne has toys all over the house! I'm glad she loves them. Lucy does not play with any toys so Daphne gets them all and she does love being able to choose her toys out of the bin.
We have toy bins up and down stairs and our Doodles have access to both all the time. At the end of each day I go around and pick up the toys and put them away. It has never been a problem...they love digging in and finding a specific toy.
we have our toy bin down and complete access. we have had to teach that to chew on the bin is a no no. and usually our pup even takes his toys back to the bin to choose a new one!! usually is a key word, as I still pick up the straggler toys and return them myself. lol
We keep the toys in a pile near his crate. I would like to get him a basket or something to keep them in but for now this works fine. When I tidy up I just toss the toys in the corner.
Thanks everyone for your input!! We put the bin back down on the floor last night and he had a blast digging through it. Only had to say "leave it" a couple times when he tried to grab the bin itself...but he was tickled to pull every toy out and play with all of them! :-)
Another happy doodle :o)
I've never really seen him unhappy!! Such a lovable pup!! :-)
