So we picked up our puppy from the breeder just about 2 months ago, and since then we have had a house full of joy. Here's the problem (?)...my wife wants another one already. The breeder we got him from has a pup that was born 3 days earlier than ours still available. For the first ten weeks of these dogs lives they were together (not sure if that means anything or not), so the thinking is that it would be a natural fit. Have we lost our minds wanting another one so soon? Help!
p.s. my sister has two doodle pups and thinks it a great idea...but she also thought her cutting my hair when we were kids was a great idea as well. I'm just sayin.
I think it sounds great - it will be company for your pup - and your pup will help train the new pup by example - hopefully!! lol One goes out - they both go out, etc...They are so social at this age, and handle change easier when younger so I would say go for it also.
Good luck, and Merry Christmas!
We had started to bell train the first one when the second one came home and joined the family. Zeke the first puppy thought if the new one could pee-doodle in the house, then he could as well. After some time Lilly the newest pup learned that ringing the bell meant going outside to pee-doodle and poo-doodle and that made everyone (mainly me) very happy. These doodles are smart...one of them just corrected a mis-spelled word for me while I type.
My puppies are full siblings, but not littermates. They are seven months apart. It is working out really well. I will say that for the first two weeks it was pretty crazy and I thought I was nuts. But now I would add a third one if I could. I say go for it. There is just something about doodles, they are like potato chips, you can't have just one! Also I am a firm believer in always having two dogs if you can. Would you want to live your entire life without someone of your own species to have around even if you lived with a great family of dogs? We have always had two dogs and two dogs are definitely easier than one, although two puppies can be a handful. But you described yourself as having a "house full of joy". I pretty sure you are up to two puppies, you will just laugh more. Have fun!
You are so lucky - DH doesn't want to hear it - so I am waiting for both my human daughters to hurry up and get out of rentals so they can get starts their Doodle Homes.
We now have two, my sister now has two...seems like everyone I know that has one doodle, has a second. Honestly, I didn't think it could get any better after the first one...but boy has it. Life is not only good...it's great!
Just checking in to see how it's going with your two pups. I am "expecting" to pick up my first in about 10 days and am really thinking about getting another, if still available from our breeder about the same time. Would love to hear how it's going and any suggestions you might have. Thanks!
