I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem.  Benny is for the most part housebroken- he doesn't have obvious accidents in his crate anymore.  The problem is, if I put any type of cloth toy/blanket/towel in his crate with him he pees on them.  If I  only toss in a ball and some rubber chew toys and a bully stick he does nothing.  Anyone know why he would be doing this and if it might be something he may grow out of?  I never had this problem with my last dog, and I'm not really sure how to go about making him stop.  Suggestions?

Have you tried putting something in there that he has never peed on before? My trainer says that no matter how many times you wash something, you can never get the smell out enough to where they can't smell it. I had a rug in my guest bathroom that Finn would always pee on. He's housebroken, never has accidents, but I would wash this rug, put it down, and he'd pee on it. I got rid of it, put a new one down, and he has never peed on the new one. He might be smelling where he "marked" before and is "marking" it again...an endless cycle. Good luck.
Sounds like he thinks that the towels are a pee pad. You could try just keeping a crate mat in there., and nothing else but a toy. Is your crate divider small enough that he can only turn around? They usually will not pee where they sleep. If you give him too much room, he will use a corner to pee in.

Thanks for your suggestions.  Last night I put a new toy in his crate and today it smells like pee.  No puddle to be seen, no wet fur.  His crate is only big enough for him to stand and turn around, no extra space.  He stumps me!
