We've had Oskar for almost 2 weeks now.  The first couple of days, he'd let me hold him & he'd fall asleep.

Now, when I can sense he's tired, I try to have him rest on my lap but he thrashes around until he gets away & goes & lays under a chair.

Our other doodle did the same thing when he was little & still isn't a snuggler.

I'm curious about other doodles :)

I got my pup at age 6 months.  She was not a snuggler then and for the most part she still isn't.  I must say that as she is getting older (she is 14 months old now) it is slowly getting better and I can hold her for a short while (very short) if she is not in a playful mood.  She will come to me for loving and massages on her own now!!  I think she is finally realizing that being loved on is nice.  She still won't sleep with us and much prefers the floor to the couch....I think she gets hot easily.  I too wish my doodle liked to be held!!

We got our puppy at 8 weeks and she has been a snuggler (almost too much! - she's a face/head snuggler) every day.  She likes nothing more than to be wrapped around us.  Sometimes she will even lie along the back of the couch like a cat so that she can cradle my head.

I am so jealous!!!!  Lucky you guys!!

Me too!
We got Hurley at 3 months. He sleeps on the bed with us but not close to us. He takes over the foot board area. I have tried to snuggle with him but he isn't into it. I think it is because he gets to warm. But when he is afraid of something he gets so close to me he is practically sitting on top of me.
I have a six year old and a 16 week old. Same thing. Would snuggle as pups but not so much now. Both are very loving and affectionate- just not into snuggling! Sigh. Oh well. We take what we can get!

Doodles have such think fur it may be a heat thing.  Finn acts that way when he is in bed with us,  He wants up there but once he gets in the bed he gets uncomfortable and thrashes around and then starts panting.  He prefers the cold hard floor over everything.

I have one snuggler....one not so much. Wilson wants nothing more than to be in my lap constantly. He even sleeps right on me. if I move,Wilson moves. Big ole sweet cuddle bear. Murphy wants to be with me all the time but not cuddling. Murphy wants to be doing something....playing,training,walking.....not a cuddler. So I guess I have best of both worlds.

Hurley is so loving and endearing in every other way but snuggling.  That might change in winter time.  Right now he starts on the bed but by morning he is on the bathroom tile floor.

Tori wasn't much of a snuggler or cuddler when she was little and now - it's only on HER terms... but she has become much more affectionate with age (she's 4 now)... there was a discussion a ways back about this and we were discussing whether the sex of the dog had anything to do with it as it seems more males like to cuddle than females.  BUT... I guess they are just like kids - it's all in their 'make-up' and personalities!  Tori has no choice now - she had to convert to a 'cuddler' - we just smothered he in it! LOL

We are in Brian Head, Utah this weekend so it is much cooler than Las Vegas area.  Hurley actually stayed on the bed and seemed quite comfortable to stay close to us.  I am thinking the not cuddling is a lot due to the weather and these pups may run warm.

We've only had ours for a week so it's probably too soon to tell, but she likes to be held and she's always curled at my feet.
