Hello everyone,

I tried to do a search to see if anyone's doodle had experienced this before but I couldn't find anything.  I took Cooper to the vet today because we noticed blood on things he chewed on.  It's been two days and I was just worried because it's not his canines.

We noticed his canines has not fallen off yet but his permanents has already came in.  So we can see he has double canines.  The vet told us that the blood isn't a concern, his baby teeth has just fallen off.  The concern is that Cooper has double sets of canines, upper and lower!  He recommended extracting the four baby canines since the permanent ones already came in.  He said we risk infections if we don't do it.  I was wondering if we should go ahead with the procedure or wait a little longer to see if it'll fall off?  The vet said even if it eventually falls off on its own, we still risk infections.

Any thoughts?  Thanks!

I know what you mean! We had to sit him on our lap (while seated on a chair) like a toddler! One person held him and his paws, while the other wiggled his tooth. Then cheese. Then other side. Then cheese. He actually was very good about it, I was kinda shocked how much control he gave us, and it gave me confidence that if any future issues, tooth brushing, etc., we could handle... Good luck!

:-)

Just wanted to post an UPDATE to this originàl post. All of Cooper's baby canines fell off!! The two bottom came off first, different days. Then the top two also different day. His extraction appointment is next Monday and I was so happy to call and cancel it this morning! :) Thank you all for your help. We had waited and extended his appointment after getting some input here. :)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
