Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

My nine week old goldendoodle, Kaija (pronounced "Kiya"), whom I've only had for three days, just sampled some chicken poop.  Besides the major "yuck" factor, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this with their pup and if so, did your dog suffer any health-related issues?  I called the vet - he said probably nothing to worry about, but I will take in a stool sample in a few days.  My chickens free range, so keeping Kaija away from the droppings is going to be a challenge!

On our last camping trip, Lucy and Ethel ate every piece of cow and deer poop they could find.  No ill effects accept bad breath.

If your worried I would give her some yogurt for the asodophylis, I'm not sure how to spell that correctly. or you can buy asodophylis from a health food store. its good bacteria that fights bad bacteria. When my son was little he ate a piece of deer poop and I freaked. I thought he was going to get ecoli, the hospital wouldnt help me told me to wait it out. So I called a natural path and that is what he advised me to do. By the way, we bought a Australian Labradoodle a few days ago and we came so close to naming her Kiya in Australia it means "from the beautiful place " so close. Small world so funny.

Hope this helps,

Rhonda

My neighbors bought gallons of yogurt for this problem.  It started after they changed foods with their five dogs.  It worked for awhile. It worked on all but one.

Update:  All is well as of this a.m.  Kaija seems to have suffered no ill effects from the chicken poo . . . let's just hope she doesn't sample it again!!

oh good..
