Bonnie has been spayed and is only allowed quiet leash walks for 2 weeks. Keeping her entertained is challenging.
Today we walked to the estuary and watched the ducks. Bonnie being a poodle Labrador cross is,of course, a duck dog! Here is a transcript of our conversation this morning.
"We're going to the estuary? I want to run on the beach! Oh estuary is it? Well that's OK I like the estuary. Ducks!"
"Yes Bonnie, but you know I won't let you chase ducks!"
"That's OK mum! I can run in the domain!. Mum! The domain is this way! mum! Mum! You're missing the domain! MUM...ITS THIS WAY, Oh. No domain. No running. Oh. All right then, estuary. Ducks!
"Let's sit here Bonnie and we can watch the ducks on the water."
"Well, OK, but I would rather run. DUCKS! Let me at them!"
"No Bonnie, we are just going to sit quietly and watch then."
" you're kidding, right? Oh. Not kidding. Ducks!"
"Actually Bonnie they are geese."
"Geese? Looks like a duck to me. MORE DUCKS,"
"Those are Pukeko."
"Walks like a duck, swims like a duck, flies like a duck. It's a duck! DUCKS!
"Heron."
I
"It's a duck!"
"Cormorant."
"Duck!"
"Seagul"
"Duck! Err, mum, what's that? Is that a duck?"
"That's a swan."
"That's one big duck! Mum it's coming this way....mum, are you sure it's OK. MUM IT HISSED AT ME! Mum I don't like that duck. I want to go home now. I don't like ducks that hiss and flap their wings at me, they are scary. "
"It wasn't a duck, it was a swan. And it's gone now."
"That's OK then, I'm a duck dog, and that WASN'T a duck!
