Fleas, Ticks, Heartworms Oh My!

The vet is trying to sell us some $$$ options and it has my head spinning.  Griffin is 3 months. What do you all use with your pups? Right now i'm planning to buy Advantix online or at Costco. Not sure about heartworm stuff.  And if we're doing well with Advantix do we need the Lyme vax?

We buy the Fronline Plus at Costco. I found that Advantix made Maxwells fur greasy and it stayed like that for a long time.

Geez. I've been thru the same thing. We tried Vectra, didn't work. Then Revolution & a tick collar. Realized the collar was toxic to anyone who touched it (including the cat) so now use Frontline Plus. So far, so good. No ticks. And we've used Heartguard for the heart worms with no problem. Good luck. It is enough to make your head spin!!

So Frontline it is!  Vet was also trying to convince me on the scalibor collar but I'm not a fan.  Thanks :-)

We use Frontline Plus too.  So far at almost two years old...never a flea and only one tick and it was dead!

Amazon had the best price for the Frontline Plus.  Ordered!  No heartguard for his weight though.  Where do you all buy yours?

You have to get Heartworm meds through your vet.

The dog must have a blood test to be sure it does not have Heartworms before you can give any meds like Heartguard or any other preventative.

Thanks!  I should have figured that part out I guess. The vet did give me a HW chewable for him at our first visit. I'll ask for a script next time we go.

I got Heartguard Plus at Costco Pharmacy. Very good price.

 You need a prescription from the vet, and need to consider weight gain if the puppy is growing a lot more.
