How cute!!
I took my 14 week old pup for his first grooming visit earlier this week. Not for a full groom, but just to get him used to the process and to have his paws, rear, and eyes trimmed. He looked so cute all blow dried (his feet are wet from the rainy grass though, and of course he wouldn't sit still either)! Alternatively, I also have some round tipped scissors that I've used to trim a bit as needed, which would be an option for Roomba too.
Hi Sarah
We are newbies and also liked the shaggy look of our puppy so it took us awhile to make grooming decisions.
The first time we popped into a groomer was just to have his nails trimmed and the groomer asked if we would (hint hint) like them to trim around his eyes - just that made a big difference. He was probably 4 and half months at that point. At six months we went for the first "puppy groom" which was a bath, blow dry and tidy similar to what Elizabeth described. Just this week at seven months we took him for full groom with an inch cut off all around, as he was beginning to look a little scraggly. I was really happy with how it went and Kobe was a lot more relaxed than the first time around. So good luck as you begin your grooming journey!
I love the shaggy oak too. I took Asta to the groomer for the first time e at months. He got a puppy cut--around the eyes, paws, and sani-cut. He got his first trim at 7 months.
Ned was about 3 1/2 - 4 months old.
I think Angus was between 3 and 4 months. We did just a sanitary trim, nail trim, and trimming around the face.
I got Charlie bathed for the first time at 3-4 months old, but didn't allow anyone to trim his face until he was about 5-6 months, and then not a full groom until about 8-9 months... I waited as long as I could for that one, but it was winter and his fur was ridiculous with all the snow!
