Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I took my doodle to Home Depot for the first time today. Talk about attention......everyone wanted to stop and talk and touch. I need to take her more often....who needs match.com?!!

Does Home Depot allow pets inside? If so, maybe I need to do this too. LOL
Some do! Ours does, thankfully. I noticed last time though that there technically is a sign posted on the front door saying no dogs, but all the employees and even managers have told me over and over to bring my doodle back every time I come shop there. I think it probably just depends on your area and the employees. We love to go there!
We took Boomer to a nearby waterfall attraction to practice hiking on trails. We couldn't go far because we were stopped every 2-3 minutes by people who wanted to pet him. He got good practice learning to sit before being petted though. Kept getting mistaken for a golden doodle vs a labradoodle but honestly who can tell ;)
It's great having a pet everyone loves!
I heard from this site that Home Depot allowed dogs. I didn't look for a sign and just went in assuming it was all of them. I'm not sure I'd accomplish much shopping but definitely gives my dog a lot of socialization. She was a little afraid of the carts but soon was ok with them.
Try Contractor "pickup"!!
Thanks for this good info. A trainer I've spoken with recommended that we take our puppy "shopping" at Home Depot to socialize him. I'm excited to meet our puppy this weekend and bring him home three weeks later. If anyone has other recommendations on good places to take puppies to socialize, I'm all ears.
Our puppy goes to Petsmart each week for lessons. We go early to walk him around. All the employees know how to properly meet your puppy (has to sit before they pet!) which is great for reinforcing proper behavior. Going to touristy places near where you live will also really socialize your pet with people.
As a last ditch effort, you can always sit outside of a Starbucks.
