To get your pup from JUMPING so much. We are working hard but man its tough! She just loves people so much! I have a lead on her at almost all times now to step on it when it starts but there are times I can't get to her quick enough.

Thank you for the link! I will watch it tonight when the kiddos are in bed. Lucy had her first play date today with a golden doodle puppy and did pretty well. :) She is just so smart, I have to stay one step ahead of her!
Traveler does the same thing! He doesn't jump up on me, or a couple of other people, but he gets so excited when anybody else comes into the house than he just goes crazy! Things are so chaotic then, with somebody trying to come in, and talk, and the dog leaping around and me trying to catch him and tell him to sit or down, it's just a nightmare! He tries to sit sometimes and does for a fraction of a second, but then just can't stay still. I think he sometimes tries not to jump up on the person, but jumps up on the couch which is by the door, and jumped onto the big table that's on the other side of the door! If I knew somebody was coming, I could have him on a leash or put him in a different room, but I'm talking about unexpected visitors. I think I need somebody to practice with, maybe can do that when people will be around over the holidays.
We swear our doodle is part kangaroo...she jumps a lot while playing, running, and when she's excited (when we come home, guests come over, etc.). We are working on it too...thanks for all of the ideas and the link!
I tell everybody to just raise their knee if the puppy jumps on them and don't talk to him when they first come in. He is getting better about jumping on guests. He was bad about jumping on my son when he first came home from college this holiday season, but he has stopped that with the ignoring him and raising the knee. When he jumps on the door to get in, I tell him to sit and will not open the door until he is sitting. He is getting better.
If it makes you feel any better--jumping up means the hips are strong and true. Not much consolation, I know, but really. My doodle stopped jumping and it was a sign of hip soreness. Oh I can't wait for the jumping to return.
