I was wondering if this is normal , yesterday I was petting the top of Miss Beasley's head and I felt what appears to be a raised up bone on her head it's in the middle of Miss Bea's ears ..It isn't soft at all and doesn't move around, it pretty much is in the center and is kinda more long shaped than round .. Anyone else have a doodle that has this or has had itK  Miss Beasley is 6 months old ,Thanks So Much !!!

LOL...not sure what your feeling, but I can tell you that Enzo's skull is NOT perfectly smooth.. She is 8 months.

thanks for sharing with me about Enzo ... make me feel way better :)

Fazzy is 19 months old and he has and always has had a very prominent ridge on the top of his head, definitely not a smooth round top.

Thanks so much for letting me know  and Fazzy is a cutie!

Loo is 2 and she does NOT have a smooth skull! If you are worried, watch the spot and note any changes and the next time you go to the Vet talk to him or her about it.

Thanks for the info about your doodle and I will watch it for sure !!

Wow thanks so much guys, I will watch it and I'll have her trainer feel it..Makes me feel much better knowing other doodles have the same thing. I am surprised I hadn't noticed it before, I even put her hair in dog ears :)

I've seen this before :) to my knowledge it's completely normal. It's very common in golden retrievers. An old wives tale has it as a sign of a very friendly dog.

she is very friendly to people, kids and other dogs oh and my rugs, she befriends them a lot :) And again thanks to everyone that has shared !

It's the ridge of her skull…both of my doodles have it :)

It's the occipital bone, the bone at the back of the skull. You can feel it on almost all dogs to some degree. Humans have one but it sits more sideways. It should feel the same on both sides (doesn't move, has the same amount of tissue on both sides, etc.). If it becomes more prominent over time or your concerned you can always take him to the vet to double check. My fiancée's dad calls a "knowledge knot." The bigger the better! LOL Crackers it too big for her own good!

:)  and thanks so much !
