Neutering

What is the best age to have your doodle neutered? The breeder told us we could do it as soon as 3 months, but our vet says 6 months. This is our first male puppy so looking for advice. Kathy

I just had Allie spayed last week. She will be six months on the 17th. I wanted to do it before she was 6 months because I heard that girl dogs' can get their periods as soon as six months. She did great. I just had a little bit of a hard time keeping her quiet after the first day. My vet did the incision on the inside so she did not have stitches on the outside. I definitely like that because I was afraid they would get stuck on something or she would chew at them. She never really even tried to lick at it. If she looked like she was about to, I just told her "no" and she stopped. She really did not seem to hurt at all after the first day. Tomorrow will be a week and she is definitely back to her old self.

We had Beasley neutered at 5 months and he did great.

Dexter was neutered at 6.5 months. We read that it was best to wait until after 6 months. good luck!

Timbow was neutered at 8 weeks and he is wonderful. We will have our next puppy neutered at 3.5-4 months. With male dogs I think the earlier the better so they don't start any of the "not so desirable" male habits. :)

Rufus is getting neutered on tuesday :( he is 9 months
