Was out in back trying to run some of Zoey's energy out and she got underneath me & got tripped up and I stepped on her leg!  She started crying like CRAZY!  I feel like a horrible mommy :(.  I brought her inside & ran my hand up & down her leg applying a little pressure & she did not cry.  She was tentative about putting pressure on it, but starting trotting a little with a little bit of a limp, but seems ok.  Wish there was a way to put a puppy ice pad on it to make sure it does not swell (she is much too squirmy to sit still too long for that).  Ugghh...I feel so bad.  :(

We've all had our little stepping on accidents - she will be fine...don't beat yourself up over it : )

One time my husband SLAMMED our 2 year old sons finger in the door - REPEATEDLY! The door wouldn't close because his tiny little finger was in the way by the hinges...he was in such shock that he didn't scream for about 40 seconds - YIKES! Happens to everyone - hope this makes you feel better!!!

Ha - Lori!  I just posted that I did the same thing to my son!  Ugh!  These heart strings sure are strong after all the tugging on them we do!

I know it is hard not to feel bad, but I think this happens to everyone at one time or another.  You are not a horrible mommy...she probably doesn't even remember.  Can't imagine an ice pad even staying on a puppy even if you could get her to stay still!  :-)

Thanks for the kind encouragement.  It just broke my heart to hear her crying like that.  I thought for sure I had done some serious damage.  @ Dori - Ya, if I had one of those Boo Boo Bunnies they use for little kids she would probably just try to eat it!
When Rooney first came home - several times during those first months we would trip, throw ourselves over, or step on him.  He was so little and he would quietly get underfoot.  She'll be fine, don't worry - we just need eyes in the back of our heads.
AWE... I think it was worse on you than Zoey... although I'm sure she was hurt too.  If she is putting pressure on it I wouldn't worry (I know that's so hard!).  We have ALL done something by accident to our poor doodles.. actually I shut the car door on my own son's hand.  He just stood there not even crying and stared for what felt like an hour.... then when I realized what I did, I cried first!  He was okay thank goodness.... being a mom is one tough job!
Shelly THAT is HYSTERICAL!!!! Same thing!!!! Poor boys : )
Yeah, we've all done it. They are too little not to. They're always under your feet or following you around:)
There are numerous posts about new puppies being stepped on. It happens. I bet she is all better already. I'm sorry you were so upset. We all have been! It's a right of passage in puppy parenting, I think.
At least you were home when it happened--I accidentally stepped on Sadie once at the dog park and everybody immediately looked at me like I was abusing my dog (especially since I had gone over to get her out of a mud puddle)!
I think I have inadvertently stepped on every puppy I have had.  It kills you inside!  They rebound quickly and love us anyway.  Hopefully she is over it,even now!  It is a good sign that she is getting up and about!  You are not a bad mommy...I would argue that you are just the opposite....healing wishes for you both!
