Hi All,

wow seems like I'm always writing a new discussion for Zoe.  Well, she is now 8 months old and still doesn't jump on the couch.  I know it's probably a good thing but it worries me.  My parents Maltese started to jump on to the couch and bed at like 4 months!

Our couch and bed are VERY low...If Zoe was standing upright on her two hind feet the couch would probably be waist height (she's a mini).  I've seen her STEP onto the couch and I've seen her accidentally get on the couch while playing but she can't seem to jump up.  we will throw a toy on the couch so she can get it but she just reaches up and paws at it until she can grab it.  And we know she can jump because when she runs around in the yard with other dogs she will run and then jump...rather leap over them like a jump rope.

Has anyone experienced this?  Is this normal for a doodle?  Not to jump?  Or do you think something is wrong with her legs?  I did notice from an early age that her hind legs crack.  Like when you crack your knuckles. I told the vet but it wasn't cracking when he checked it so he didn't think anything wrong.  And when bathing or getting her feet washed, she doesn't like her hind legs touched (she will retract).

What do you think?

Hi

My doodle girl (Emmie) does not jump on the couch or the bed I have to lift her up.   Our other doodle (Shiloh) jumps on everything.

Hi! thank you for your response!  I am just so worried something might be wrong but good to know that there are other doodles out there that don't jump =)

Fudge will not jump on our bed, although I know she can. She puts her front paws on it, and looks back at us to hoist her the rest of the way up. She only recently started jumping off of it, but not always. Vern is 90 pounds and he did this for a long time, too, but now will jump up on our bed.

Wow! 90 lbs? That's hilarious!
