Can your dog be too into you?
Thing is Polly cannot stand it if I leave whatever area of the house she is in. She whines and comes to find me, has to be right on top of me. I can't even go to the bathroom without her scratching at the door. ( she does not do this with my husband ) We spend every waking minute of the day together. I love that she loves me but when does it get beyond "love" and into obsessiveness? Is that possible?
I am a mosaic artist with a small studio in my house that I work in but it is too dangerous for her to be with me in there so I tried to crate her just outside the door where she can still see me....Nyet she hates it! Barks, yelps, whines and digs. If I crate her elsewhere in the house she does the same thing. I have a couple of commissions nearing deadline and I need to get a boogie on ! Anyone have any suggestions?
So glad to have found this site!
My Fozzy Bear is 12 weeks old. He used to do the same thing. The better he did with the potty training, the more access I would give him to the house. I think in doing so, he became more independent. He comes to work with me everyday. When I would go into meetings, I would shut him into my office. He would cry and bark like nuts. I bought one of those bark collars that sprays citronella when they bark. I only used it when I would confine him to my office. It took one and a half days, and he learned his lesson. It cost me $90, but at least I can still bring him to work. It may be worth a try for you if nothing else works.
The only time Fozzy really goes nuts now, is when we kennel him at home when we leave the house.
Hi Chris. oh Fozzy is so cute! At least where I live my immediate nieghbors are only here on weekends and in the summer..... hopefully we get her adjusted by then at least :-) Thanks for the suggestion!
