Pouncing??

Little Abigail Adams likes to pounce like a lion. She also kinda jumps like a kangaroo, but on all fours. I find it cute now, but I can only imagine what a 60lb dog doing this would be like. Is this normal for doodles? I have had a few puppies and non of them pounced around like Abigail.

Yes and yes. Both my doodles do these moves. It's so cute :-)

Maddie does the hop and this howl like noise we call a roo because that's what it sounds like. Kinda cute.

[Tracey & Spike]

Spike does it too! I love it! He also does this weird walk when he's super excited. It's almost like he curves into a u shape and almost walks on the tips of his paws. Oh doods. Gotta love them!

[David and Franklin]

At 13 weeks, Franklin is a pouncer and a prancer. Prances when he is trying to impress a visitor or my wife. Pounces when he plays.

[Cora and Trudy]

Trudy does this too! When I throw the ball for her she runs to it and when she gets close she pounces on it. It's so cute!

[Rosemary (Ro) and Enzo]

LOL..there is no doubt in my mind...Enzo came equipped with a full set of springs in her legs. She can jump, from a standing position, straight up...over my head. And the moves...from side to side, are nothing but, amazing! I raised and bred Goldens for 30 years and never saw a Golden with these type of moves...so my guess, it is the Poodle in them. So yes..completely normal! :)

PS.....the pounces and jumps, only get stronger and higher, as they age. The hardest command for Enzo was " 4 on the floor".

Pogo sticks for legs that's what Zoey has. We are at 6 months now and are going to try to be vigilant with the "four on the floor"

[Lori, Daphne, Lucy & Pippa]

Daphne stalks and then pounces. She lays down on the ground like a cat stalking its prey. Then when Lucy gets close enough she pounces on her. So funny...unless you are Lucy!
