Hi, I have heard often that there is a second period of fear when puppies need socialization and teaching to be "brave" again. Buddy is 5.5 months old and I am assuming we are in "it" as last week, we walked our usual walk to the lake (where he swam for the first time, yeah!) but then on our return trip home, he freaked out when walking past the storm water drain in the street - which we have walked past a hundred times before. Anyone know when this happens and how severe it is, or how long it lasts? Thanks

Good question -- My puppy seems to be experiencing the same thing! He's had a "puppy haircut" before, but we took him yesterday for a bath and trim around his eyes and he was freaked out. He's five months old.
If memory serves me it happens around 6 months old for a month or so. Just power through it. Don't coddle too much and it will pass.
