Toby has been limping, off and on, yesterday and today. It seems worse when he gets up from sleeping. When it "loosens up", he is fine. He jumps up on his hind legs at the back door, runs, plays etc. I don't know whether he has twisted his leg somehow (but that can't be it, because he is "normal" a lot of the time), or whether it is maybe growing pains, or what it is. I am a worrier, so of course like to go to worst case scenario in my head. It's just odd that it is fine once it loosens up. Can't get to the vet until Monday anyway, and hopefully it will be fine by then. Any reassurance or thoughts out there?
Sandy,
Maybe he slipped on some ice or snow? Tully has taken about 4 flying headers, face plants, and flat out crashes since this spate of storms began; he just hasn't gotten his "snow legs" yet!
Has Toby eaten anything like poinsettias or holly that could cause a reaction?
Too late for ticks or Lyme?
Keep me posted; I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. Merry Christmas, Toby!
Good luck! I hope it turns out to be minor. Good to get it checked out by your vet. I'm sure you don't need help thinking of the worst possible scenarios, but our neighbor dog did have a cancerous tumor in his leg. He had several rounds of chemo, ending a few months ago, and so far he's doing terrific. But as I said, good to get it checked out by your vet. Best to Toby.
