Yes, it is true - Stuart has been let go by our groomer.  We knew that this could happen, we were warned but still I am sad and a little shocked.  Before I ever got Rooney - I had searched high and low for the best groomer who would love my boys and treat them like their own.  I selected Glenda - a tiny little lady with a mobile unit that would groom Rooney parked in front of my home.  We started the 2nd week that we had him.  No he didn't need a hair cut but I wanted him to get used to her, so she bathed him, dried him, cut his nails, blew him dry, and ran the equipment near him so that in time - he loved going in to get groomed.  When we rescued Stuart - Glenda, all 100 pds of her, told us that she just couldn't groom large dogs but she would do Stuart for as long as she could.  I guess over the past 8 months we sorta forgot about that part.  She loves and adores Stuart just as much as she does Rooney so I was shocked today when she returned Stuart to me - with tears in her eyes.  Seems Stuart was in the bathtub but was so happy and relaxed that he didn't want to get out.  No matter what she did Stuart wanted to nap in the tub and she finally had to climb into the tub with him to get him up.  Oh dear.  So dear baby Stuart at 65 lbs has been let go - she can't groom him any longer.  I tried to not let her see how sad and shocked I was, I tried to say that it was o.k., fine but I am so sad.  Now I have to go in search of someone who will groom Stuart with the same love and gentleness, never yelling or tying him to stand while they groom another dog, some place quiet with out a lot of barking to groom my boy.  Oh am I ever sad.

Aw, I'm sorry. :( The same thing happened to us with our dog walker. She loved Mindy to bits, but she just couldn't handle such a big, strong, energetic pup anymore.

Jane, I am sorry. Is there anyway you could help with the bath and she do the rest? Just a thought! If not, I know you will find a great groomer and possible she could recommend someone.

Oh, that is soooo disappointing.  I am sorry to hear this.  It is hard to lose a  groomer, or dog sitter, or any dog person we come to trust and rely on.

I'm so sorry Jane. I stopped looking for a groomer and am doing it myself because so many that I called said they wouldn't groom:o( If you have been that happy with a groomer, I cannot imagine how disheartening it would be to have your big boy rejected. boo.

so sad to hear that stuart got dismissed from his groomer. fingers crossed that you find a good one soon

Very sorry, I would be as upset as you are.  There are some awesome groomers out there that really care, though.  I was blessed with a wonderful woman that took extra time and love with all my dogs in the past.  She is gone now, but thankfully Sammy is a gregarious and extremely social pup that actually loves getting groomed at our local Petco, of all places.  Ask your vet if they could recommend anyone, or your local doggie day care center, if there is one.  Groomers often network with these places.  Good luck!
