Taking our 9 week puppy home to mom's house for 2 weeks then our house. Too confusing?

My breeder also thought it would be ok that the first 2 weeks the puppy will come home to my mom's house where we are staying on vacation.  He'll then permanently relocate back to our house.  I''m worried that this will be stressful and confusing for training.  She thinks that as long as his crate is in my bedroom at night he'll be fine.  Thoughts?  Also did anyone bring their pup on an overnight trip in week 11?

I think it will be fine. Just use the same key words what ever yours may be eg.. Toilet training - get busy..etc.
As long as your consistent.

I think it's a great idea to take him with you. The more "new things" (people, places, surroundings) you can introduce your puppy to while he is young, the better! It teaches them to be flexible and less fearful of new surroundings, sounds/noises and smells.

If you don't have a "car safety harness" (ideally one that works well for walking him, too) I strongly urge that you get one to keep him safe on the drive. Have fun!

I think puppy will be fine.  He'll be with YOU and you will be the stable and constant thing in his environment so that's important and I think the crate in your bedroom is a good thing too.
We got Gavin on a Thursday night.  45 minute car ride home.  The next afternoon we traveled 4 hours to our cottage with him, where we spent the next week.  Brought him home in the car another 4 hours on the following Sunday.  He took it all in stride.  We used bells to potty train, so that was the common denominator both at the cottage and at home.  Ringing the bells meant potty time.

Do not worry.  Be consistant with training (potty time, etc..) and it is no big deal.

Boss's family has a 11 week old puppy. His wife and kids took the puppy to wife's parents for 2 weeks...puppy is FINE!

thx!!

We'll be taking Bexter to a hotel for 3 nights with us over the 4th of July weekend to St. Louis.  I definitely didn't want anyone else watching him while we're gone.  I think it's good to get the pups used to traveling if you're planning on them traveling with you on vacations & trips.  Might as well get used to it young I think!

thank you for this question.. we also will be traveling when Lilly is young so I was relieved to hear about other dogs doing just fine.
