Teaching to potty

Okay, I know there is no one that will appreciate this picture and post, except for our Doodle lovers. I have given up on teaching Sparky to pee correctly. Do you see the stream of pee. It is funny-but not. Sometimes we have a touch down and sometimes he hits the uprights! Does anyone else have that problem? My other male Doodle rarely lifts his leg, but he doesn't shoot through his legs!

mine is still just a pup so maybe that is where we are heading! lol  mine has started adjusting how far he leans forward, but he doesn't have the arc or force of adult dog yet. so funny

He's got the look of "seriously mom, pictures while I pee?" My Finn, 7 months, occasionally lifts his legs slightly, but most times just shoots forward and sprays all over one of his front legs. Very nice, leg dripping with pee.

I'm not alone! Yea! Good to know Finn and Sparky are alike! Sparky is 13 months old now.

My 16 month old doodle has never lifted his leg but some times he lifts his back legs on inch of the ground in a very dainty manner, so adorable. I never tried to teach him to lift his leg and glad that he doesn't as I think its easier to find a potty place and also glad hes not peeing on things in my yard just the grass.

I'm glad my boys don't lift their leg, I just wish he had better aim at times :)

I don't know - I've heard male dogs learn how to do it from watching other male dogs, but I don't know if that is really true.

I can tell you that I know a very feisty male Pomeranian that only pees standing upright on his front legs - like he is doing a handstand.  It's hilarious and you almost have to see it to believe.  So things could be worse I suppose!

That is so funny! I think we need a group called "how does your dog pee?" I am happy with him not lifting his leg, and think the touch down aim is funny, I just hate when he hits his legs :)

The handstand story is the best I've heard!

We had a dog that lifted his leg so high it was like he was saluting! We thought he was going to fall over with that hind leg straight up in the air. All kinds of peeing hazards for different dogs.
