So Archie is 12 weeks old. I stay home with him and our 2 kids (ages 5 and 3). I'm having a breakdown today because every time I try to play with him (i.e. work on sit, stay, lay down, touch, fetch), he ends up biting and attacking me. I eventually put him in a timeout.

What else can I do with him during his awake time to burn his energy and/or engage his mind?

Thanks for any advice. I'm desperate.

Thank you Jane! I appreciate your time to write all this advice! You're right that he does better when exercised, and he LOVES playing with other dogs. We have introduced him to at least 50 dogs and he plays regularly with 2 (daily). He also started puppy good start (well manners class) weekly and attends puppy socialization weekly. All these things will continue to help us. In the mean time, a few hard bites to the arms and legs, and a lot of patience will be required! Persistence too!

Thanks again everyone!
We like to get balls, a rope or treats and practice fetching and catching. Even if you can't throw it very far, it's fun for them to have something to do, and since they are running back and forth for it, they don't have as much of an opportunity to bite your hands.
