Have you read my other posts? only one tiny potty accident in the house since coming home, eating his food like a champ, calm, etc etc...

Day 5?  My sweet calm angel doodle has turned into a vampire over night.  He mouths and nips constantly when he isn't sleeping.  The worst is when we are outside.  He is completely crazy out there- leash walking? HA more like leash eating- when I want him to move he just plops down and looks at me, or rolls in the grass and gets dirt all over him

Normal right?  We just redirect, shove toy in his mouth etc.

Help I feel like I am already being tested by my little doodle monster.  Don't get me wrong- I love him to death and he is one smart doodle- he already knows "sit" and is pretty great with the kids but MAN when he wakes up from a nap its like I gave him a red bull lol.

Also- so nervous because he hasn't gone poop since before lunch- is that bad?  His stool has always been normal looking.

The honeymoon is over, welcome to puppyhood.
:) so so true
perfectly put Donna!
There are many, many, many discussions on DK about puppies mouthing, nipping, biting, what have you. You will want to get into correcting this behavior. We are still saying, "NO BITE!". Yiping loudly like another puppy would works well when they are little.
Of course not...why we would want to warn you. It is our little secret.  We hide all of the blogs and discussions about how puppies really behave from unsuspecting "waiting for puppy" people.  We need you to get suckered in...actually look forward to bringing your puppy home...then WHAM...once you have your puppy and are hopelessly in love with the little bundle of joy, all of the bad comes out.  LOL
LOL I should have known- and look at me, posting about how amazing my first few days/nights have been.
Dori, I'm laughing so hard at this.  I think we Waiting for Puppy people choose to read all the good posts about all those wonderful well behaved Doodles and skim across the loony tune ones that are causing owners to tear their hair out while saying quietly to ourselves 'my puppy will never be like that'!  ; )

My puppy is born but I have a wait to go.  I guess I am different because all the negative stuff is what i a most interested in.  I want to know about how to deal with the natural instincts of puppies and what to feed them, etc.  I am glad for all the news about doodles.

When Molly started with the nipping we said very very loudly "ow".  Since we always talked in normal tones with alot of sweetness cuz these pups are just so cute, it stopped the nips within a couple of days.  Molly also bites on the leash alot, but when she starts we have her do some sit stays & downs to get her little puppy mind on something besides the rope hanging next to her head.  Good luck and remember every day is an adventure :)

When it comes to biting on the leash, I found Bitter Yuck! (has no alcohol and is rosemary based) you can buy @ PetsMart to be very effective. Spray it generously on anything you do not want bitten. (Not you, though :-)) Just make sure to wash your hands afterwards, otherwise you'll end up tasting how bitter Bitter Yuck! really is. LOL  Good thing it's not toxic.

How old is Barkley? He looks pretty little. As soon as he is old enough, enroll him in Puppy Manners or Puppy Obedience. It will help you both a lot. And it will be fun.

Even if he is having a bad day, find something to tell him he is good about. Even if it is a tiny thing. And always try to tell him what you want him to do, instead of just "no!" or "bad!"...results happens more quickly with positives. :-)

This, too, shall pass...but it might get worse before it gets better. But it will definitely get BETTER!

picked some up today!  Thank you
Hang on to your hat! And hang in there, it does get better. We used to call Stella the "Spawn of Satan", my husband even had a great scary voice for her ... (e.g.)"I will charm you with my cuteness, then I will kill you in your sleep"
