Luna - F1 medium/mini goldendoodle (9 months)

Luna is a mini F1 goldendoodle (father was a 15-20 lb. apricot mini poodle, mother a beautiful smallish golden).

Here are some pics from the last 7 months so you can see the changes in Luna's coat.

 

I am curious to see what your thoughts are on how her final coat will grow in!

 

Pics at 7, 11 and 14 weeks - very straight hair with apricot ears and white belly

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pics at 18 and 22 weeks - Mostly straight hair with a weird "stripe" of wavy hair down her back in dark apricot.  Tail hair starting to "corkcscrew".

7 months - Body is covered in thick, wavy hair but no curls.  The base of all her back hairs is now cream/white, but the tips are dark apricot.  She has some of the retriever feathering on the backs of her legs and her chest hair is starting to curl, but remains white.  Her legs and head are still puppy hair and the jury is still out as to whether her face will be shaggy!

 

9 months:  Growing in her adult coat, which looks to be a mix of cream and apricot.

 

 1.5 years:  All grown up and stunning!

She is so cute!  I don't think you said you had her coat trimmed?  It looks like she will look more retrieverish than doodle.  I love the puff on the back of her head... but check the discussion on puppy - adult coats.  MANY don't get that doodle-look until they are older.... Whatever her coat type she is a cutie!!!

Nope - we have never trimmed her coat.  So far, she doesn't even need brushing/combing, but I give her a quick comb after full baths and trim the hair between her paw pads so she doesn't get snowballs stuck in there.  :)  Thanks I'll give that discussion a look!

Does she shed?  Buddy's hair on his back looks just like Luna's.  He is 9 months old now, and I havn't seen any coat changes for months.  He is starting to get a little beard, but no mustache.  I also wonder if the coat will change any.  Buddy shed alot.

Buddy's coat does look a lot like Luna's!  I don't think she's going to get a beard anytime soon though, there is still no sign of one.

 

She doesn't shed very much, but it's hard to tell what is actual shedding and what is her puppy coat being replaced.

 

If you run your fingers through the "adult" part of her coat, you don't come away with many hairs, and they are usually the thinner "puppy" hairs.

Luna is such a cute pup. Her ears are outrageously adorable. I bet she can perk them up and get her way every time. :-)

Hey!

Your Luna's coat looks just like my carlos. He turned 9 months 2 days ago and still has no curl. Just slight wave on his back, chest and on the back of his hind legs and around the rear. He did get the doodly tail with lots of poof and wave but other than that his coat is fairly straight and quite short as well. Also no sign of any facial fur/beard so by this point, I don't think he will get one at all.

As for shedding Carlos was like your Luna, you could hardly pull a hair off of him until the morning he turned 8 months. He has been shedding like crazy ever since, not sure if it is a coat change but I sure hope so! Hopefully you don't run into this too
