Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello,   I just found this blog !   And, since our Mini-GD ( F1) will be one years old this Sunday, ( Feb 5, 2012 ) I thought I might join your group and share his progress with pix and comments.

I feel fortunate that I have a pic of him at one day old from his breeder.  He is laying in the middle btw his two (red) brothers.  There were eight in the litter. Three boys and five girls. We had decided we wanted a male and he just found his way into our hearts at first sight. We brought him home to Michigan and the shores of Lake Michigan when he was 8 wks. What a huge change he made in our household. My partner and I are both over 65 yrs. and live in the woods ( pines and sand dunes... 30 acres ) We have trails cut through the woods and grassy areas as well as Michigan prairie grasses.  The shady areas are full of Rhodedendroms, ferns, hostas, etc.  There is a sunny cutting garden and a small vegetable garden. The land goes from steep sand dunes to relatively flat grassy areas. The prairies are full of 6 -8 foot "Indian" grass and " big blue stem".  We are avid horticulturalist and work to keep the land chemical free.  So, that's where Buddy lives.... and, loves it as we do. Too many words here..... I will try to insert pics now.

Just went to check out the rest of Buddy's photos.  He looks at least in the photos like he is on the larger side of a Mini ... how much does he weigh at this point?  I do have to say though that I love his coloring, I love the cut that you have on him, and he is just adorable.  In reading your blog, I was feeling a little like I would like for you to adopt me as it seems really beautiful where you live.   Look forward to watching him grow up.

thx Lucy and Sophies Mom !  Bud's dad is a Miniature Poodle named "Bentley", while his mom "Gracie" is a full size Golden.  We met both of them at breeder's in Indiana. (Crawfordsville ) We are hoping he is full grown at one year.  He is referred to by the breeder as an "Apricot" after his father's and grandparent's coloring. We don't trim his tail so it forms this big "plume".  Which can be seen somtimes in the tall grasses. He doesn't see any other dogs unless we take him to a "doggie day care".  He still goes crazy if the doorbell should ring so we are trying to "desensitize" him to it.  Since he lives with two guys.... he loves the ladies !   Go figure. I think it has something to do with high pitched voices.  The grandchildren are his frenzie passion !   He gets the "zoomies" whenever they visit.  I have a video on my page of him interacting with the active grandsons a couple of weeks ago.

When he gives you a look like the one above, how can you say no to him.   That's why he is spoiled !

Happy b'day from N & C

Thanks for the colorful and animated birthday greetings guys !!!!!  Mine is today (The 3rd) and Bud's is this Sunday. (the 5th. )   He's turning one ( or 7 ) and I'm turning 67.... bummer !!!!!

Happy birthday to you Jim also.  My birthday  and my youngest son's are  also in July.

OMD!  Jim, from the DAY ONE picture, I KNEW exactly where you had gotten your pup!  Shows how much I stalk breeder's websites...No, but really!  I am sooo excited!  Your buddy is the son of Gracie, who is the golden that I am talking about adopting this spring.  I was supposed to get a girl from Gracie's next litter (not with Bentley this time, but with Winston)...Anyway, she didn't get pregnant so Christy is having her spayed.  So, I told Christy, that I could just adopt Gracie then!  So my golden is your doodle's mommy!  How cool!

Tracy,   did you get Gracie?  I would love to have Buddy re-connect with his Mom one day.  Where are you located? We are an hour above the IN/MI line and 5 miles east of Lake Michigan in a small town called Fennville. About 10 miles south of Saugatuck/Douglas, Michigan

There have been many changes with this whole situation!  I am sorry to tell you I did NOT end up getting Gracie.  Christy had another couple who wanted her also (an older retired couple with no dogs) and she thought they would be the most appropriate fit for her in her retirement than our home with 2 growing boys and a playful doodle.  So, we ended up being guardian parents to Maggie, her goldendoodle.  You can see her on the website if you look.  I was heartbroken at the time, though, because my heart was set on Gracie.  I'm sure Christy did the right thing for her and all of us though.  Sorry that you can't have that mom/baby play date!  I don't know where the couple lives that has her, but you could contact Christy.  You never know!
