This may be a silly question, but do doodles, or pups in general I guess, have a "hormonal " funky smell, like maybe a teenager? The reason I say this is our 6 1/2 month old Zoey is a stinky girl. She just got her first haircut and just 3 or 4 days later she smells funky, or I guess doggy. We have two other dogs that don't smell. They all have access to a big yard and she does run like a crazy fool at times. It's not a plant smell from the bushes or grasses. If I had to describe it, other than "doggy", I would compare it to a sweaty kid. Just curious. She has a pretty short curly coat now and no skin problems or itchiness. Well, thanks for any thoughts, and maybe ideas other than frequent baths to "deodorize " her.

OK, don't laugh, but sniff her butt and if that isn't it, her ears (or you might want to do that the other way around, lol).  Could be her anal glands or it could be yeasty ears.  Other than that, I haven't heard too many complain about their doodles having a "dog" smell.

I was thinking the same thing, ears or bum smells LOL Sometimes groomers express the anal glands as a matter of course and I don't think they should go near them. If there is a problem it can make it worse and I believe this is something that should be dealt with by a vet.  Neither of my two smell doggy at all. I give them a bath about once every three weeks and brush them daily.

Every once in a while I see someone mention a stinky pup. Not sure why. I have two doodles, but neither stink. I actually like their scent. You might try something like cloud star's buddy splash. It's a spritzer and conditioner. Smells just like their yummy shampoos
Lucy had her first grooming at 6 1/2 mos. wow she smelled so good and last for 2 weeks. Its probably because they are not using a good shampoo. That's my opinion,

Since she didn't smell before, I would definitely check her ears.  Olive has a ear infection right now and it smells.  She will need to go to the vet to get a good ear wash and ear medication.

Good luck!

Our 7 month old Lucy gets a funky smell, we think she is actually a Ferret-Doodle!! Her ears and anal glands are fine, checked by vet. She does get frito foot in between baths as well as the ferret funky smell. Our vet recommended oatmeal based natural shampoos and paw wipes. Good luck!!
