Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi, I'm Amanda and I'm new here. New to the "doodle" thing too as I just got my Zola three days ago. She is from a rescue organization, so her origins can't be verified. The rescue was told by the family who turned in the litter of puppies that their labrador had gotten pregnant, and they suspected a neighbor's poodle as the father. It definitely looked like they were right because some puppies were super poodle curly, some wavy, some long and straight, and some scruffy looking little ones.

I'm trying to predict how Zola's coat will be when she's older. She is approximately 10 weeks old, and right now she has this adorable long straight wispy hair almost all over. It is almost completely straight but she has some itty bitty waves at the tips of her ears. She's definitely gonna shed since she's already leaving little hairs all over my pants. I don't mind the shedding too much but I just hope she'll shed less than my dad's border collie!

Did any of your guys's doodles have this type of coat? How did it turn out? Do they shed a lot?

Also, any predictions to how big she'll be? :/ She looks soo small and I was hoping for a big dog (as you can see by the way-too-giant bed and crate I bought her) I still love her either way, her personality was more important to me than size even though there were bigger pups in the litter. Do they have Miracle-Gro for puppies?  ;P

Anyway, I'm interested to hear anyone's thoughts!

She is adorable! I am still waiting on our first doodle puppy so I don't have any advice to give. I just think she is beautiful.

What a cutey. Our Kate is six months old and we are enjoying her so much. We got her at 17 weeks and she pretty much potty chained herself after one week. Not quite there but good

Your puppy is very cute. I can see extra hair on the sides of her face, and on the top of her head. Not so much "beard" or on her nose like most doodles have. So not sure how doodly she'll look. But when it comes down to it, once we fall in love with them, it doesn't matter if they have three eyes :-)
It's hard to tell how big she is in the pictures, how much does she weigh? Looks like she might be at least medium size,
But hard to say.
Lastly, I'd recommend health insurance if you can swing it, esp since you don't know the health of either parent.
Good luck! What a beautiful girl, I can see why you had to have her ;-)

She is precious! Time will tell as far as her coat!

For reference on size- Ragley was 14 lbs at 10 weeks and she was 54 lbs at one year

Always hard to tell by pics, but I'm thinking she isn't going to be a mini or anything.  If someone made me guess I'd put her maybe 40-60 lbs somewhere.  You'll have a better idea around 16 weeks when you can double her weight and add up to 10 lbs for an approximate guess on her size.  As for her coat.  She is definitely going to have a doodle look to her.  All the straight/whispy hair you see right now is her puppy coat.  That will transition into an adult coat.  I don't think she is going to be really curly, but probably more wavey.  All just guesses on my part.  Whatever, she is going to be gorgeous, that I'm sure of.

She is adorable. Enjoy!!! When Lucy was 12 weeks old, she already very wavy and no shedding. Now, she is almost 11 mos old she is very very curly and no shedding. She is F1b multiple-generation.

She is simply adorable whatever her genetic makeup. Your pictures of her are very special .  You were right to choose the one with the best personality for you.

Hi Amanda! Congrats on Zola! She is adorable! I think she looks a bit like Oz.. But unfortunately he is still tiny as well... So maybe we will see what they turn out like together! :)
But since Zola was a rescue and i definitely know what Oz's parents looked like I thought i would share. His mom was a F1 Labradoodle and dad was a standard poodle. That makes him a F1B. He weighed 9lbs at his first vet visit (that I took him to) at 10wks. He will be around 65-75lbs at maturity. He is also shedding a good deal more than his big brother. You can check out his pics on my page.. But I'll post one here too :)
Enjoy Zola and take lots of pics.. They change quickly!!

I meant to ask.. How much does Zola weigh.. At 10 wks?

Too cute!

Beautiful puppy! Got my Ruffie from the shelter also, but he has the curlier poodle coat. No shedding yet, but a few mats to comb out.
