Have you done a follow-up contact with your shelter or rehome?

Our shelter required a follow-up phone call or an in home visit at a week out. They are very conserned about the placement of their pets and want to make sure that everything is going ok. On their web site they even have a contact place to share your success story and send pictures. Wouldn't it lift the spirits of the wonderful people who work in shelters where our dogs came from if we contacted or visited them to let them know how happy our dog is and how much we are in love with them. You have to be an extremely caring person to work in a situation where so many sad stories occur. A happy story could be the very thing that keeps them going and able to help many more homeless animals! A doodle kiss would be great too!

I adopted Connor out of PA and I live in VA so a face-to-face visit is not practical. However, I talk regularly with the woman who arranged the adoption. And I always send pictures to the wonderful adoption lady, the director of adoptions/fosters at the SPCA and also his foster mom. My getting Connor would have been impossible if it had not been for all the good efforts of these people. I will be forever grateful to them...and I have told them all that. :-)

P.S. Connor and his sibs were from a puppy mill. They were about 16 weeks old when adopted so it has been especially fun for everyone to watch him grow up.

I live in MA and Rosie was adopted from a shelter in NC. I have had contact with the shelter through emails. They encouraged me to keep in touch. I also had contact with the pet transport co. they really helped get Rosie home to me. They picked her up at the shelter, arrranged for her to see a vet for her health certificate,and made the arrangements with the airline to fly her home to MA.
