I have had great success with the Gentle Leader, even when deer or rabbits are taunting us on our walks. I have rec. to many other dog owners and they have been very happy also. I was on a walk with a friend and her Ibesen Hound when a lady in a truck stopped to tell her she needed a Gentle Leader. We both bought one and our dogs, my doodle and her hound, are the picture of obedience! With no pulling ever!
Hi Nancy, a lot of owners do not like the Gentle Leader, but I have used the Halti ( the very same thing as the GL except different company ) on Lucy since about 3 - 4 months old. She was pulling me at that age when walking her and I didn't want a BIG dog dragging me around. I have seen so much of that and it is not pretty. I bought the Halti at Tractor Supply. At first I put it on her (which she hated) and left it on while in the house and outside for her to get used to it. She still does not like it and will rub her face on the floor or my leg trying to get it off, but I will tell you she is a completely different tempered dog with it on. The one bad thing about it is....... Many Many people will ask you "why do you have your dog muzzled, does she bite?" I have gotten very tired of answering that question, SO I have bought her the Gentle Leader Easy Walker Harness. It is also wonderful and Lucy does not mind it at all. If you do not want to use the GL or Halti, get the harness, I would recommend it as well. Good luck. Keep us posted as to your success.
I use the Gentle leader also and no pulling (except when the leaves start flying- I think he forgets for a second).
I was wondering though if the GL harness is as good. I tried a harness that wasn't GL and it was horrible.I get the same comments about the " muzzle" although Tucker doesn't mind it at all. / Pat
I think the Easy Walker harness has the same affect as the Halti on Lucy. She respects it and behaves wonderfully. The difference between it and a regular harness is that you hook your leash to the front of it instead of the top. Lucy doesn't mind it at all.
