Hi all! Thought you'd get a kick out of this. Here's Cricket in the Halloween costume I made for her. She was a very good model! ;)

Awwww! How cute. Although I am not looking forward to snow I know the doodles are. We are just back from our daily romp in the dog woods. The doodles are covered in dirt to their armpits.

Dylan and Reggae are just back from a camping trip in Northern MN. They had a great time swimming, boating, and lounging in the tent! The lake water made their coats sooo soft!

Dylan does the toy in mouth and happy dance routine too! He is much better self-controlled with something in his mouth and runs now to pick out his own toy and then promenades back and forth and around the people who visit.

His hardest time to contol himself is with the neighbors and people he really knows and loves. Getting him to sit is a big challenge in these moments and the jumping class is teaching us about all the options of how to calm the pups. So far the one that seems to be working is where he has to sit before the person can approach and touch him and the minute he lifts his butt from the ground they have to turn their back and leave.

Reggae is an absolute therapy natural. He had to wait til he turned one but could have passed at 6 mo. He is extremely calm and mellow and usually looks like he is going to tip over and nod off at any moment.

The kids we work with do lots of breathing in and petting while they exhale. Reggae also enjoys the interactive therapy work we have been doing with elem school kids. He likes the relay races where one kid says sit and does the hand command and then another is in charge of the stay and then a third child releases him. The dogs have to be ultra obediant for this!

Both our dogs do very well with obediance in general and down/stay is Dylan's very best! This summer we are learning how to navigate the world with 2 doodles. They are so cute side by side and have learned how to carry a stick together. They look like they are connected by a doodle yoke.

Wow!! Reggae passed already...I guess some dogs just have it in them. Berry is not even close i think...She has her moments when she sees other dogs and people who responds to her. Very hard for her to control herself. Now, we know a trick - the moment we come inside or anybody come inside we ask her to fetch one of her toys...once she does it she is much more controlled with no jumping but just circling around people which is much better:-)
Berry loves obedience class... she is the best at sit/down stay....lazy again:-) We started agility because she loved jumping exercise at the end of obedience training. She likes it but it is not like she is born with it...She hesitates the first time...but by 3rd time she does it like she has done it all her life. But see-saw is the only this she doesn't like. I think Cricket and Dylan would do great in that. My observation is that except for the poodles, all big dogs has some hesitation in this class...i guess size plays a role here.

He had to be scrubbed down with a washcloth several times before the cream doodle re-appeared. Dylan is in a jumping class now where we are learning to help him not jump up on people but he would probably like agility too. The boys also went through therapy dog classes this Spring. Reggae passed the eval with flying colors and Dylan was declared too much of a doodle right now! Can't really blame him for that....
