This is my first time posting on this group....a group I hoped I would never be joining (LOL).  You may have seen my posting this morning about Murphy who has apparently had his first "partial seizure".  I'm wondering about whether the way he's been acting since he got home from the Vet is typical.  He's extremely lethargic...just wants to sleep.  He's reluctant to do the stairs....he usually "takes the stairs" at 90 miles an hour.  He's afraid to let me out of his sight, even for a minute (I've been bringing him into the bathroom with me), he's listless and picks up a toy for a minute, then drops it and goes back to sleep.  He's kind of "daydreaming"...his eyes are open, but he's "not really here".  He and his Doodle brother seem to be ignoring each other...they are usually playing non-stop.  He did eat dinner, so I'm really happy about that.  The Vet did say he would probably be tired today and then back to normal.  It does seem a little more than "just tired".  Is this pretty typical?

I am so sorry to hear about Murphy. Our Toby has grand mal seizures. We rub an ice pack on his hip during the seizure, as we haven't had any warning of an oncoming seizure, and also give 1 tsp of Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream right after the seizure.. Both seem to really help. It does take a lot out of them, we also have been told that the exhaustion they experience is comparable to running a marathon. It is very helpful to keep a journal. I also hope this was a "one-time" thing. There is a lot of support and very helpful information in the Seizure Disorders group. Sending hugs and well wishes to both of you! Keep us posted.
Thanks to all of you for your wonderful support and very informative responses. You probably all saw from my other posts that Murphy does not have a Seizure Disorder. However, my Vet said that he does have a "fever threshold" which did trigger a seizure, and that it could happen again under similar circumstances. We just have to be super diligent with knowing what his temp is whenever he's not acting normal. I'm probably going to stay in the group, since this may be something that could happen again in the future. Again, I so appreciate all your help these past couple of days.
