Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I have a 7 month old goldendoodle and Monday she experienced her second seizure. The first was 3 months ago. After the first she had a series of tests and everything came back normal. We were hoping it was a fluke but now that she has had a second we realize it is something more. What steps should I be taking at this point? My vet recommended a neurologist; we haven't done that yet. Is it too soon to medicate? Does anyone have any similar experiences that they could share? We are so upset that our Goldie had to suffer through 2 of these and are scared because she is so young. Any help would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you! - Jenny

I would follow your vet's advice and consult a neurologist. The sooner you get some answers and a plan for controlling the seizures, the better for your puppy.

3 months break? Wondering if anything is triggering those seizures. As in worming medications, immunisations? Too early to medicate. How bad are the seizures? How long do they last?

I am wracking my brain trying to think if something similar happened both days that could have triggered it. Both times was about 2 weeks after her worm/tick meds so I don't think that's it.  The seizures both times were about 2 minutes. They seemed bad to me but I haven't experienced this before. She falls to her sides, foams at the mouth, pees/poops...after she is very scared, seems blind, walks around bumping into things and then sleeps for about an hour. After she wakes up she is fine.

I really appreciate you responding! I am a worried mama!
