Today we went to a restaurant for the first time and River did great. I was so proud, We still need to work on his barking while we are in the doctors office.  He wants to play the the nurses.

Does anyone know of service dog trainers in the Los Angeles area?  Thanks so much.

The show we just went to was the Hobbit.  They always have the sound up loud at the theater.  The Hobbit was a bit long and loud so I guess leaving her at home was a good choice.  She only shakes a lot when her vest is on.  I am thinking I need a lighter weight one for her.  I haven't trained Tia to stay away from me because I need her at my side, but maybe I should.  Oh by the way when I say she shakes I don't mean like shivering I mean the back and forth like shaking water off of her back.

I will suffer for about a week with nightmares and panic attacks since I went to the movie without Tia.  She also knows when some of my medical problems show up.  I go to shows with Kevin (my husband) despite the results and fear because he needs me to put him first sometimes.  He doesn't see the results often so he tends to forget my problems.  Tia kind of barks a lot when we leave her home and is hyper when we get home, but she settles down quickly.

Thanks for the comments I really appreciate any input.

Hi Kathy,When we go to the show I bring a towel for him to lay down on.

We don't go to loud or really long shows.

Have you explored why "Tia tends to shake a lot."? Food allergies? Nervous?

Buster's trained to shake on command.  You could train Tia to shake only on command.

I understand not wanting to leave Tia but it is health for both of you to have periods of separation.  It doesn't have to be long but an hour every once in a while.  Hope this helps.

HI Kathy,Not sure what SHOW you are speaking of, but as far as Buffets go- as long as your dog is trained on  Down and stay why don;t you leave your dog at your table while you go get the Buffet food Or put him in  sit by your side as you move thru the line. There is no where you should feel awkward taking your dog.

I have a question about where you take your dogs.  My husband has two places in particular he won't let me take Tia.  He won't let me take Tia to the show and to buffets.  I can sort of see his point but I NEED Tia and so I don't often go to the show or a buffet.  This makes my husband frustrated.  He says the floor of the show is so dirty and Tia tends to shake a lot so going to the buffet would just get her hair all over the food.  Restaurants are ok because we have her lay down under the table and we rush her outside when we are ready to leave.  I go through a week of nightmares if I go without Tia so it is a real trial when Kevin wants to go to one of these places.  So anyone have any ideas?

HI, Are there any Service Dog Doodles in the Atlanta Area?  Milo just finished his main Service Dog Training and would love to meet other Service Dog doodles and their humans.

The show is long over with and I would do it all again.  It isn't so much the show as I believe in our trainer and want to share with people how I feel.

Tia and I just got home from the first day of three days of the Home Show Expo.  We are both really tired.  My trainer and boss has us working the show.  I love helping him out because I believe in him and his work but it sure takes it toll on my body and Tia's nerves.  She got lots of attention from the other trainers in my boss's company.  I was surprised that she would not stay on her bed if I moved my power chair.  She usually is very obedient   I figured out when I got home she knew I was stressed.  She doesn't understand that I can be stressed and happy and safe too.  So I was glad I did not correct her.  I just kind of knew she was doing her job.

I just wanted to share with you my experience today.  Two longer days to go but it is worth it.
