CA FOSTER NEEDED - SHORT TERM OK - THIS WEEKEND

I've been trying everywhere to find a foster for Rue - her current foster has construction starting on Monday and needs to put her own dogs in day care. Rue is about 30lbs, approx 5 or 6 and is probably deaf, or at least has significant hearing loss. She is sweet and gets along with most other pets, although has had mixed reactions to small dogs. She mostly wants to be with people. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN - no foster has volunteered yet. You can read her profile on the DRC website:doodlerescueinc.org.

Not really - as is the case with a shelter dog - it would come to you direct from the shelter and you would have to get to a low cost vet, do a fecal asap to check for parasites, and then bathe and evaluate the dog. It takes a special person/family who has the confidence and willingness to deal with whatever comes.

I AM interested,. How long do fosters usually stay (unless you adopt them yourself LOL)? Is there an average? Where is the shelter?

I have to admit, we are not super fast adopting out. It usually takes a couple weeks to really get to know the dog - so they often don't get listed until we get to know them. Then we have to find the PERFECT family for them. You'd be surprised at how many don't pass the muster for little reasons, but we do our best to find the right home where they will be loved for who they are and under whatever the circumstances may be. Fosters have to fill out our FOSTER application on the website: doodlerescueinc.org and go through a home check also (especially if they might want to adopt - they basically need to be pre-approved as an adopter as well). It is an LA area high-kill shelter.

What is the date she needs a foster home? Is it the week- end of Feb. 8th and 9th? If so I can help you with a short term home.

Southern Charm - we've got it - thank you tho! Her current foster changed her construction schedule to be available until Rue finds her own home. :)
