Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Come join us at Arbor Dog Park Sunday October 19th 1 to 4 PM. We have such a friendly group of owners and their doodles you don't need to know anyone to feel like 'one of the family'.
Who can make it to the 'fun with Doodles day'?

Kona is just under 17 (I think he is about 16 3/4) and Maggie is just over 17 (maybe 17.5). Gracie is a big girl! And gorgeous
Why is Ned so much bigger than Kona if they are that close in height? Maybe Ned grew after I measured him when I thought he was fully grown????? Maybe I never measured correctly????
I just measured both of them again and they are almost identical. Amazingly, Maggie is a tiny bit UNDER 17" also. She has a longer body than Kona so I keep thinking of her as a lot bigger, but she is only 3 pounds heavier than him. Kona is right between 16 3/4 and 16 7/8". I'm starting her at agility training on Monday to occupy her fascinating brain a bit more!
I don't think Ned is that much bigger than Kona any more. He used to be 16 inches for a long time. But at 2 years old, I think they are done with the height changes. I'd check Ned again. I measure all the way up at the very top of the shoulder bones for their height.
Let's bring tape measures to the next romp and you can show me how best to measure. I may not have done it correctly.
A tape measure won't give us an accurate measurement. I''ll bring a very wide yard stick (actually 48" stick) and a small square. We will also need a stiff floor board to stand the dogs on if we do this in the park. OR we can measure them before the Romp on the cement in our Brunch area. We'll have a measuring Party.
Ooooh! I want to be in on that. My agility trainer keeps promising to measure Nimbus, but then she always forgets to get the measuring thing out.
I do not want to miss this romp. Ned's coat is so full that it also might make him seem taller.
Nancy, Yes a thick coat that is kept 'shabby cute' does make the doodle look larger. That is why our 14 inch Hershey loves her 5 inch long winter coat, she gets more respect from the bigger dogs. When people pick her up she almost flys out of their arms because they are expecting a much heaver dog.
We'll get Ned's true heigth at November's Romp. I'll part his coat and measure just at his shoulder blades.
:-}
too cute!
Helga, do you have a crate you can put in your car and use your car shoulder strap to hold in place for the new doodle? Our pups have been traveling this way since they were 8 weeks old. Sydney still goes right to sleep when he is in his car crate.
