Holiday decorating advice?

Hi, my family and I were discussing holiday decorating this morning and we've decided it probably would be best to put the tree in the living room this year, which is off limits to Lily (4 mos.) except when we're with her. I don't love the idea, but I'll deal. (I'm the resident traditionalist, and I would prefer it in the family room). I thought this is would be a good time to ask for any advice along these lines, and perhaps share experiences, good or bad! Photos welcome too!

Last Christmas (our first with Boo) we put an x-pen around the x-mas tree so that he couldn't get at it. He did stretch his neck over the pen to grab a few ornaments (those sparkly, hanging "toys" are irresistible!), so we had to make a wider pen! Then it was fine. :)

Hmm...can't think of any other tips at the moment...except to buy a cheap Santa hat to put on Lily!
