I am wondering this because we started out using Canidae, switched when that changed to Natural Balance, which helped Ozzie to have a nice coat, firm stools, and a good weight...but he just doesn't seem to care for it. He's a very apathetic eater! So, I am now transitioning to Wellness Puppy, and he does seem to like the taste better, but we'll see. I am curious what everyone else is feeding?
Taste of the Wild..either Bison or Wetland foul....my dogs love it its grain free....Chicken soup for the dog lovers soul is pritty good too but does have some grains in it...much cheaper than Taste of the wild
Paige, I have shih-poo puppy and waiting to get a labradoodle from Carol. I had the same problem with food - I tried to transition him to Eagle pack and he did not care much for it. Since 2 days I am transitioning him to California Natural lamb and rice and he loves it. I have never seen him eat anything except yogurt like that...He even goes and stand in front of the cabinet wher the food is...
We changed to California Natural Puppy--Lamb and Rice. We had used this for our dog before who had lot's of allergies. Tahoe seems to like it just fine. I am adding a small amount of Canidae canned food with it which helps. Tahoe got a little constipated on all dry food.
Hi Paige, Lily eats Taste of the Wild.. Defintely loves it (the bison one, haven't tried the fowl). She has occasional digestive issues (loose stools) but this stopped when we stopped giving her occasional bully sticks! Beef ears aren't as fatty or something, so they don't give her the same issue. Back to TOTW... She likes it so much we use it as routine training treats. On the $$ side, but well worth it to us now... I have a feeling a formula with grain might give her issues.
My mom's dog gets hot spots, would love insight on anyone that has found a food that is really great for dog's with Food Allergies. I have liked California Natural as this worked with a previous dog but want to give my mom some objective advice.
I saw your post and wanted to let you know that I have a mini goldendoodle, Molly, for a month now. She was extremely finicky eater. I will not even go into what I tried. I did however, with a lot of research and info from Dianne of Trinity Labradoodles find some alarming things about some of the foods I'd tried and considered. I will not buy the grocery store brands full of junk. I know now that is why my 14 yr old springer had so many health problems and died from kidney failure. I was able to find a rating system I can use and also found out brands that were more honest about their ingredients. I also worried about recalls and class action lawsuits for various reasons...pet deaths, false advertisement, etc. I finally settled and MOLLY Loves (finally)...Innova Dry Puppy Food (moistened w/hot water), and add a couple of teaspoons of Wellness Puppy but I just tried the turkey w/sweet potatoe and she wolfed it up. I also have sarted her two days ago on Nutri-Cal...not the max amount ..I just put a squeeze some on my finger twice and let her lick it off. She loves it and is eating better and more than ever before. She was kinda skinny and would walk away from her previous food samples. I have tried (Merrick...they have a rendering plant on their manufacturing facility...Not a choice I am comfortable with and other info not good), I tried Soul Food for the Puppy Lover...she walked away, boiled my own chicken, Nutro (found out some negatives). Finally, I found the Innova dry and Wellness. Works for Molly and me. Hope that helps.
