Interesting study and I'm glad I still use an estrogen patch, but what I would really like to know is which HT therapy is best. Hope they do a larger study that can show benefits based on estrogen only vs estrogen and progesterone.
I thought there was some danger from unoppposed estrogen. I took natural hormones for a few years since I preferred that to all the synthetic hormones.
I had a hysterectomy ~ 20 years ago and the doctor told me all that needed replacement was estrogen, and the patch was the best method for me, and I have not been willing to give it up (yet). The main reason I continue using is the alleged memory benefits.
That explains it. The progesterone is to prevent hyperplasia of the uterine lining.
Thank you for the info, you saved me from going crazy trying to do research.
I ran in here because someone said, ESTROGEN! Geesh, I miss her so much.
I'll have to read this later though
: ) I know what you mean although I don't miss any of the monthly mood and body changes.
I loved being on the estrogen pill and still miss it. I was that magic group who was put on the pill at 50 - symptoms or no and taken off when the British report was published. I wasn't that impressed by the report, but I sure liked that pill, felt like myself again.
