My sister died of GBM about 6 years ago, but before she died, she did all kinds of experimental drugs.  When they asked if she was interested in experimental drugs, she said to "bring them on".  I couldn't believe her courage, but we will find a cure to cancer somehow. HIV?  I don't know about that, but worth consideration.

I am sorry to hear about your sister but I do think it makes sense to try novel things if you have no options.
