My trainer says that my girls need more protein than what comes in their dry food.  She mentioned changing foods, but after the time we had finding something that worked for Lucy and didn't cause diarrhea, I am not willing to switch.  However, I did tell her I was willing to add protein to their diet.

What have some of you tried?  I was told I can try eggs, and ground beef (raw).  She also mentioned yogurt, but didn't give details.  I assume it's the plain yogurt with no sweetner or anything in it.  Is there a brand of yogurt that any of you use?

Really would appreciate some more ideas.  Lucy needs to put a little weight on, and this will certainly help.  Thanks

I have a friend that adds cottage cheese to the dry food and she says her dog LOVES it. I haven't tried this myself but wonder what others here will have to say about it.
If you are feeding a good, appropriate food I seriously doubt you need more protein for the girls. My dogs love anything I add to their food , generally it is a very little bit of whatever I am having. Cottage cheese, yogurt, fish, chicken or meat. Lately trainers seem to be telling people they are feeding too much or too little protein so probably the amount that the dogs are getting is just right : )

I think that Karen once questioned if trainers are actually trained in nutrition??? Not sure that your trainer is the best source for nutritional advice for the pups...just a thought...

And I agree with F. The high end dog foods should be well balanced as far as the amount of protein goes. Can Lucy gain weight just by feeding her more of her own food?

Shes on avoderm, lamb and brown rice. Tried adding srambled egg yesterday and wouldnt touch it. Will try the cottage cheese next.
I tried adding pumpkin to their food and they didn't really like it.  I then added an egg to their food, and while they thought that was great, they both got diarrhea.  I stopped that for 2 days and then added some canned dog food of the same brand as their dry....more diarrhea.  They are now just back on the dry.    I guess if is ain't broke don't fix it.
