Confused by food label comparisons

I've got that cold that's going around and I admit my brain is in a kind of pea-soup-thick fog today, but I just tried using the Dog/Puppy Food Calculator with Cost Calculator on both Fromm's Game Bird food and Acana's Lamb and Apple food. Its got my brain spinning in confusion over the numbers. Something seems very wrong.

With Fromm's Game Bird the numbers come out to: 4,047 kcal/kg and 409 kcal/cup. With Acana's Lamb and Apple the numbers are: 3505 kcal/kg and 421 kcal per cup. How is it possible that Fromm's has more kcal's per kg than Acana, but less kcal's per cup??? Is there something I'm not getting? Is it that I'm not understanding metrics right?

Yes and a huge population to reeducate. I for one will always have to convert. I suspect I will always say 2.54 cm to an inch etc. in my head but I also suspect that the two fingers I used to measure this are now bigger due to arthritis : )

I really only do mall math so had I not seen that the cup measurements were actually different I wouldn't have been able to figure it out.

Here's my calculations. Taking prices from one web site, each calorie of Fromm is .00138 versus .00151. So Acana is slightly more per calorie. And as Karen likes to say a calorie is a calorie.

Multiple the appropriate number by how many calories per day. Say you dog eats 600 calories a day, Acana would be about 91 cents versus 83 cents for Fromms. Not much difference to me.
