Calla has had a problem with tartar. PetzLife, which I have discussed before, has helped a great deal. But she still has some tartar and inflammation of her gums. I know some of this is an individual thing since she and Luca get the same diet and his teeth and gums are much less affected and he never has had bad breath. In the mornings I give the dogs evening primrose oil followed by a small number of craisins. Since the cranberries are good for urinary tract health and have lots of antioxidants I felt pretty good about this but now I'm thinking that since they also have lots of sugar , they may not be so good in terms of tartar build up. Does anyone know of really tiny training treats, even smaller than Zuke's, with good ingredients, preferably no carbs?

I get dried (shriveled up) turkey hearts for treats here. They work out at $10 for a lb. They don't come from China!
That sounds like a buy. I haven't seen those sold here.
this may sound crazy, but have you looked at cat treats? They are often identical ingredients to the dog treats but in smaller pieces. A little more expensive though. When im doing hard core training with Cooper (which to me is teaching a new trick) i use the cats treats.
Wellness Pure Rewards are good - you can get tiny cat ones, or cut/rip up the dog ones into smaller pieces. Good quality treats, all meat!
I know that cat food has a much higher fat content than dog food, so that would be my concern with cat treats as well.
Thanks, so far the dried liver from pure Bites is working well. In a few weeks we'll see if the teeth are noticeably cleaner.
I guess one would have to compare the ingredients carefully.
