Has anyone ordered rawhide or knuckle bones from Dr. Foster? See ad below. they have some on sale at a good price and Lincoln loves rawhide. The ones I usually buy at our local pet boutique store are pricey. But I trust them to know their products are made in the USA.
Below is the ad for the rawhide. they say made in the USA wiht no formaldehide, but I know you cannot always trust them.
I think it is Pet factory american beefhide brand:

Maryann, rawhide of any kind, from anywhere, is not safe for dogs. It's indigestible, and there have been many cases of dogs dying from it. Here is some information: http://www.embracepetinsurance.com/pet-care/dangers-of-rawhide
There are lots of safer alternatives. Beef tendons, beef tracheas, bully sticks, antlers, knuckle bones and beef femur bones, Himalayan chews, and the non-edible types of Nylabones. I'm sure I'm forgetting some others.
Regarding Foster and Smith, I order Jack's Tylan from them. I used to get his Frontline and Heartgard from them too, but then I had a bad experience with an order of Heartgard that included separate pieces from several different opened boxes, with expiration dates that had passed as well, so I stopped buying anything but the Tylan from them. The Tylan comes in a sealed jar from the manufacturer, lol.
I know rawhide isn't the best -but he does love to chew and they last longer than the bully sticks etc. He chews on it but doesn't really eat chunks so it lasts him a week or more until it is unraveled and we take it away. He doesn't really like the antler for some reason or the nyla bones. I also give him whimzees chews, but they only last about 5 minutes and are expensive. I will buy the knuckle bones and try a himalayn chew instead of the rawhide.
Bones would be your best bet. Shank bones, knuckle bones, femurs. You can find them sold commercially or buy them from the meat department of your grocery store. Lots of info here in TFG about marrow bones. Here's one example: http://www.chewy.com/dog/usa-bones-chews-beef-foreshank-bone/dp/114650
The Durachew line from Nylabone is another good option. Long lasting and safe: http://www.chewy.com/dog/nylabone-durachew-bacon-flavor-bone/dp/39407
