i was at my pet store today buying the Acana food I’ve been feeding my dogs since they were puppies. The owner told me about a new food by Pets Global called Essence that she is really excited about and is recommending to customers. Has anyone tried or evaluated it? I know that company also makes Zignature which is on the recommended food list.

I'm pretty excited about it too. It looks very similar to Orijen, so now people who are feeding Orijen will have something to go to if Champion does sell.
Which Acana formula are you feeding and why did you choose it over Orijen? If by any chance Orijen didn't work well for your dog, this probably won't either. It also won;t work for dogs who need an LID formula. But otherwise, it's a great option.
Do you know how it compares to Orijen pricewise?
This really makes me very happy. Now I have a back up.
I'm glad you saw this discussion, Nancy. I thought of you immediately.
I looked at the website immediately. The down side I noticed is that they use fancy protein sources (ie animals) my dogs have NEVER had and I never really wanted to feed them. But, we'll see. Even though the store locators say it is sold here, so far I can't actually find a store that does carry it.
Well, the poultry formula only has one "fancy" meat, guinea fowl. And the fish formula is all fishes that I know your boys have had because they're in Orijen. The Ranch and Meadow is the one with too many exotic proteins and I agree that most people should probably stay away from that one. I'd recommend the fish formula over the others.
Oh, I just looked it up and it looks great! Im wondering about cost as well. One of the reasons we switched from Fromm was due to cost.
I did ask about the price and she said it is comparable to Acana and less expensive than Origen. Right now they are running specials on it to get people to try it but I don’t know if that is just the local stores or the company. My breeder fed Acana and I’ve just continued feeding it rotating flavors as my dogs have always done well on it. I’m excited now and am going to try it since you think it’s a good alternative.
It is higher in fat and protein than Acana. I'd say that if your dogs are doing well on their current food, maybe stick with it. Although if they can handle the higher fat content, you could always rotate both brands.
