Fromm Gold Puppy Food--anyone else feeding this--what are your reviews?

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum, so please forgive me if this question may have been discussed previously. After doing lots of research on dog foods, we decided that we would give Fromm a try for our 8 week old Goldendoodle Puppy. We transitioned him over to Fromm from the breeder's dogfood (cant recall what she fed them--Nutro..possibly) and he gulped it down. We had absolutely no problems with it. He eats well and has no digestion issues that I know of.. Our little puppy "Duke" is now 5 months old and is still eating Fromm Puppy food. At our last visit to the Vet, she mentioned that she thought he was on the leaner side. Not too much, but enough to note. She said this was not a bad thing and that lean was better than overweight, but I was just wondering if anyone else had similar experiences with Fromm?

I don't want an overweight puppy nor do I want a skinny puppy. I want him to be right in the middle. I'm worried that perhaps he isn't getting enough of something from this food... He eats it, but not with the "Gusto" that he used to....
Could he be bored with it?
Should I try another brand?
We still feed him 3x per day and he gets about 1/2 cup with each feeding. (approx--sometimes less)
Any thoughts from doodle owners out there would be greatly appreciated!
If it helps, my doodle is 5 months old, weighs about 14 pounds and is a mini-goldendoodle. His adult weight will probably be no more than 28 pounds.

I've been feeding my 16 month old puppy Fromm since he was 9 months and he was a bit underweight till I got the feeding amounts corrected, now he is a tiny bit overweight but very healthy and good solid poops. I think he is a bit over weight because we had so much heavy rain than a heatwave so didn't get enough walks.

Thanks for your reply! Our pup has awesome poops too very solid :)... But, his energy level is not what I would expect... Don't get me wrong--he goes on morning walks, and runs for the ball and toys and stuff, but his energy is not consistent. Some mornings he's super excited, other days he would rather just lay around and dig up the lawn. IS that normal for puppies? He was a very mellow puppy compared to the others in his litter...but still, sometimes we go for walks around the block and he will just lay down on a patch of grass and refuse to move.... The vet did not seem too concerned about it and she thought Fromm was an excellent choice in food... I'm just wondering if he might need something with more calories....

A little underweight is better. Fromm's is fine. Dogs often become less interested in food at times, sometimes depending on growth spurts or lack of them. Fromm is a good food. You could go to twice a day feedings at this point and add a small amount more but I wouldn't worry. He won't starve himself and chasing from one food to another to is thankless. The adult foods have different varieties and in a few months you can switch them around from bag to bag.

My boy has lots of energy, he is on the grain free Fromm.

At what age did you switch him to the Fromm adult formulas?

My doodle was on raw till 9 months and went right to adult fromm.

My girls eat Fromm grain free and there are 5 different flavor choices. Daphne is just over one year old and has an incredible amount of energy. Her Mama, Lucy does not have nearly the same amount of energy and may be slightly overweight. She has actually gained weight on it since coming to live at my house in February. I attribute some of the weight gain to being spayed though. They both enjoy the changing flavors. I rotate with every bag, about every 6-7 weeks.

I agree with everyone.  Fromm is great and if he is doing well, no need to switch.  You could rotate proteins within the 4-star line. The Gold has grains in it anyway.  Peri is a mini goldendoodle and she gets 1/2 cup 2x/day (but she is 4 years old and doesn't need as much as a growing puppy).  We rotate proteins (new one with each bag).
